Value of the Week - I Persevere

This week's Value of the Week comes from the Empowered aspect of our RED Values.

Empowered - I persevere

Perseverance is incredibly important in learning, especially when we are learning something new! Often it is easy to give up the moment something becomes hard or challenging, or if we feel that we don't have the skills or knowledge to be immediately successful. This value is reiterating the importance of persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success, as learning does not always result in instant gratification or success.

You can support this by encouraging your child to keep on working through things, even when they are hard. Reminding them and talking about times when they or you have experienced something difficult that required perseverance is  great modelling of this value - it might be when they learned to ride a bike, or learned to swing on a swing without being pushed by an adult, or even when you changed a job and had to learn how to do something new.
