The Board consists of:
Clint Schoultz - Parent Representative/Board Chairperson
Originally from Africa, I have lived in New Zealand for the past 12 years, six of those in Wellington. I have two beautiful children, 8-year-old Mila who attends Redwood School, and 16-year-old Gabriel who lives in South Africa. I live in Tawa with my wife, Leigh, Mila and, and an array of animals. I like to keep busy and as well as being Chair of Redwood School Board, I volunteer for Tawa Community Patrol, a member of Toastmasters Tawa, board member for Hospitality New Zealand, and Chair of Vulnerable Support Charitable Trust. The charity has become my passion through the amazing work we do and what we achieve by making a difference to kids’ lives and helping those more vulnerable in our community. For the last six years I have worked for Spotless, as Regional Manager for the South Island and Lower North Island. Playing with my crazy daughter Mila helps me relax and forget the world. |
Alecia Salvador - Parent Representative
I am Alecia Salvador, mum to two Redwood students in the junior syndicate. I am originally from New Plymouth and moved to Wellington after high school. I’ve worked in Intellectual Property for 18+ years and love my job. I am passionate about learning and I love to read and complete puzzles in my spare time. |
Brett Garner - Parent Representative
I grew up in Tawa and I'm happy to have returned some 20 years later with my wife Clare, and young family. My son Thomas joined the school half way through 2021 and we have been very impressed by Redwood school and the commitment and experience of the teaching staff. My daughter Lucy started this year and is really enjoying her class room and the school environment. My motivation to join the Redwood School Board of trustees is to contribute to our community and to continue progressing the great mahi and governance the Board, Principal Zac, and staff have been doing in supporting our young learners to achieve their potential. My background is 18 years in banking and finance for my first career. The last 9 years I have been immersed in the Wellington IT sector for my second career. My current role is as an Agile Coach where I coach software delivery teams and leadership to be great. I strongly believe in the 'inspect and adapt mindset' which is an industry term but simply means to learn from what doesn't work and change the way we do things in order to improve. |
Kirsty Wallace - Parent Representative
I am the proud mum of Ellie (year 3) and Zac (year 1) and wife to Rodney. I have enjoyed being an active part of the school community since 2019. During the week, I am a Senior Associate at Duncan Cotterill, a full-service national law firm. I specialise in employment, health and safety, litigation and dispute resolution law. During the evenings and weekends, when not being a taxi service and supportive spectator to our sporty and adventurous kids, I like to spend time outdoors trail running and consuming coffee at our great local establishments. As a family, we love the community feel of Tawa and its proximity to Rangituhi/Colonial Knob, one of our favourite mountain bike riding and trail running destinations. I’ve helped out with a variety of Redwood School events including sewing monkey tummies, trips to the zoo, bushwalks, school swimming and painting faces for the school disco. I also manage Ellie and Zac’s football teams in the weekend. I am proud to be part of our school’s Board of Trustees and look forward to helping continue an environment that allows our teachers and staff to keep making a difference. Rākau pai, Hua pai; if the school is strong, the children are strong. |
Emma Ashington - Staff Representative
Bernie Woodgate - Secretary
I have worked at Redwood for the past 6 and a half years and love meeting all the families that come through the office. The children are a lot of fun to work with and always bring a smile to my day. I am the proud Mum to our two boys - Jamie & Jared both of whom attended Redwood School. Jamie is in his 4th year as a building apprentice and Jared is a second year plumbing apprentice. Sport has played a big part of our weekends over the past 18 years and I can be often be found on the sidelines of either a rugby or football pitch (sometimes both) supporting their teams.
Born in Canterbury and raised in Otago I moved to Wellington 30+ years ago but I will always refer to the Mainland as home.

Zac Mills - Principal
Originally from the UK, I came to New Zealand in 2001 for a two year overseas experience. Twenty years later NZ is undoubtably home for myself, my wife Jane and my three daughters: Molly, Kate and Zoe. I became Principal of Redwood School in 2019 after 22 years of being a classroom teacher and senior leader. It is a role I relish, and one that I feel very privileged to have. My focus is on enabling the Redwood students, staff and community to be the best they can be, and giving them the best resources to maximise student learning. I have always had a passion for sport. These days it is mostly channeled on the sidelines supporting my girls at hockey, football and netball. This year I have taken up hockey again after a 20 year hiatus, inspired by my youngest daughter becoming involved in the sport. Playing for Tawa Titans, it is great to be involved in the Tawa community in a different way. During the summer you will often find me mountain biking on one of the many fine trails Wellington has to offer. |
