On Friday 22nd November Redwood School participated in the Tawa Cultural Festival. This is an event that has grown and grown over the last few years, with all the Tawa primary School and the Intermediate performing.
We were welcomed to Tawa Intermediate with a pÅwhiri, with Kingsley Walton unexpectedly representing the manuhiri on the paepae and performing his whaikorero with mana. Redwood School performed their bracket as a tribute to Levi Kohiti, who was an enthusiastic member of our Kapa Haka Performance Group. As you can see from the video below it is a good job that we only took our Senior Kapa Haka Performance Group (Year 3-6), as all 73 of this group only just fitted onto the Tawa Intermediate stage. A big thank you to Vanessa Serci for co-ordinating this group, and to Te Rehia and Liz (our wonderful Kapa Haka tutors) for their support on the day.
