Syndicate Planning

Term 3 2020

Our whole school focus for Term 3 is Stories. All three syndicates are exploring ways that stories can be told, and are all creating their own stories. All our students will be writing their own stories and publishing these in a variety of different ways.

Investigations across the school will have a strong connection to storytelling, whilst encompassing a broad range of curriculum areas.

Our Year 5 and 6 team will be embarking on their first inSTEAD project. InSTEAD stands for Investigation, Science, Environmental, Arts and Design, and is Redwood School's approach to STEAM learning. Students will be creating their own digital animations as their project outcomes.

In Mathematics our foci will be:
Year 1 and 2 - Measurement (length), Addition and Subtraction, Proportions and Ratios (Fractions), Geometry (shape)
Year 3 and 4 - Proportions and Ratios, Measurement (length), Geometry (shape)
Year 5 and 6 - Proportions and Ratios, Algebra, Measurement (length and area)

We will be continuing to develop our work on the Zones of Regulation to support mental wellbeing.

Matariki will be a strong focus for Te Reo and Tikanga Māori.

In PE:
Year 1 and 2 will be focussing on gymnastics, hockey and athletics.
Year 3 and 4 will be focussing on Manipulation (using equipment e.g. hockey) and athletics.
Year 5 and 6 will be focussing on gymnastics and athletics.
